Encaustics
Encaustic, painting in melted beeswax, dammar resin and pigment, is a technique that I have been practicing for the last ten years. I love playing with hot wax! In my encaustic mixed media pieces, my process involves working with multiple layers. I start by melting various colors of wax on the hot plate and then quickly brush them onto the wood and then fuse with a heat gun to a smooth surface. Next, I proceed to build layers by adding images, paper and fabric collage, natural and manmade found objects, and more. The end result is a richly textural, multi-layered work or art.
